Monday Thrillers

It’s Monday already. The only excuse of being late in posting is that I got hold of Jeffrey Archer “The Progdial Daughter” at the local library and re read it. What a wonderful story writer he is! I couldn’t just keep it down and finished it in 24 hours, postponing everything I could.

Responding to the weekly Blogchatter Bloghop, the prompt was best thriller you have read/ watched? Is there a single book I can name? Probably not! However, I will pen down a few of my favourites.

• Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code was one thriller I had liked a lot. This was one of the earliest novels by the author and the second featuring Professor Robert Langdon, an expert in cryptography. The novel starts with a murder in the Louvre Museum. The novel explored an alternative religious history and kept me hooked on. The subsequent works by Dan Brown were predictable as Robert Langdon is portrayed as someone who can never die, even though he might fall from the top of church spire and he definitely falls in love with the female lead. I still have read all the novels because of the diverse culture and histories he brings.

• The other author whose thriller series kept me awake is Christopher C Doyle. The first one in the series was The Mahabharata Secret. The subsequent books were The Mahabharata Quest, A secret revealed, The secrets of Druids and The Patala prophecy 1 & 2. I like how the author transports and mixes the present world with the ancient wisdom. Also, since there are not many exploring Ancient India, the series are my favourite.

• Last one though not necessarily in the order, is The Girl on the train by Paula Hawkins. It is a psychological thriller and explores relationships and how the story links three different women. Believe me, the movie did not do justice to the brilliant novel.

I am not much of a movie buff, but recently I have started exploring the documentaries on Netflix. I watched this documentary on disappearance of MH370 and I feel such real life incidents are more frightening then the reel.

Looking forward to add to my TBR as I go through the recommendations of other bloggers.
